The Training and Hunter Education Committee's at the Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club are hosting "Stop the Bleed" for Hunters on Thursday, October 19th from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM:
Hunters face a range of unexpected challenges in the field that can include bushwhacking through thick downed tree limbs, sliding down slopes, slipping off of moss covered stone walls, and falls from a tree-stand.
In some cases, a seemingly harmless accidents in the woods can become a life or death situation when miles from a vehicle.
In normal circumstances, it can take seven to ten minutes for an EMS team to get to an individual after receiving a 911 call, and three to five minutes for that person to bleed out. In a hunting situation, adding the hike into the woods and the uncertainty of a remote location, the situation becomes even more challenging.
In any bleed situation, the minutes count to save a life.
This course offers training in the three basic bleeding control techniques that include direct pressure, wound packing and tourniquet application.
This course is open to both Club Members and the General Public.
Registration Information: You must register through Eventbrite to attend. The cost is $25 for Members, $50 for the General Public. Payment can be made the day of the class.
